Where's Charles Boustany?

Where's Charles Boustany? Don't know for sure, but he won't be in the debates.

Well, the debates were on. KLFY TV 10, as a service to its viewers tried hard to put on debates for the 7th District congressional race. Don Cravins, Jr. and I agreed to participate. Charles Boustany, whether due to audacity or cowardice, is refusing to participate in the debates. Of course he has excuses. He is busy. Unlike Don Cravins, Jr. and myself, who have real jobs, and businesses to run, Charles Boustany is on hiatus from his job as congressman. He has little to do right now except campaign to keep his job paying $169,300 per year. But, he claims he's too busy.

KLFY had set a preliminary date for the debates on October 20th. Boustany said he was too busy. According to KLFY News Director, Dwight Dugas, Boustany was then offered alternative dates. Of course, Boustany was still too busy. As of Friday, October 3, Boustany was offered to pick a date and time of his choice, but never responded. I guess he was too busy to respond. Unfortunately KLFY cancelled the debate due to Boustany's refusal to participate.

While Dr. Boustany did participate in the UL/KATC debate, it's interesting that when he accepted the offer, there were no plans to televise it. Obviously, it would have been political suicide to cancel when he learn that KATC was going to cover the debate live.

Now he's just too busy to participate in the KPLC debate on October 20th at 8:00 PM. The reason? Boustany's Chief of Staff Jeff Dobrozsie said, "He has other long-standing planned commitments." When asked what were the commitments, Dobrozsie replied, "He has other long-standing planned commitments." KPLC will host the debate in Lake Charles in spite of Dr. Boustany's refusal to participate. Fortunately for the voters of Southwest Louisiana, KPLC believes they deserve to be informed. To be honest, it's no surprise to see the good doctor refuse the KPLC debate after witnessing his dismal performance at the UL/KATC debate. Peter Vidrine continued to challenge him on his failures in the bailout and domestic oil production and Boustany could never defend his record. If you wish to view the debate in its entirety, go to http://peternow.com/ul_katc_debate.php. Thank You, KATC for providing this for the voters.

Apparently, Dr. Boustany in seriously afraid now to participate in ANY forum with Peter Vidrine. After being invited to participate in a Lion's Club luncheon next week, he initially accepted, then upon being informed that Peter Vidrine would be present, he immediately changed his mind. He told the hostess that he would not be in the same room as Mr. Vidrine, since Vidrine is "too Vocal." Too Vocal? Is that what Boustany calls constituents who are outrages by the over $1.8 Trillion Dollars in bailout this year? Is that what Dr. Boustany calls constituents who are outrages by his vote to permanently authorize the IRS for undercover operations? Is that what Dr. Boustany calls constituents who are outrages by his vote to implement new carbon emission taxes? I guess anyone who expects their representative to represent them is just "Too Vocal." No small surprise that he's hiding now!

The majority of the voters in the 7th District must go through regular evaluations on their jobs. In the private industry, most of us must justify our jobs. Normally, raises or promotions are based on the result of our performances on the job. That's what evaluations are for. Were you to tell your employer that you are too busy to participate in the evaluation process, do you think you would still get a raise? You may even lose your job with that kind of lame excuse. Apparently, Charles Boustany believes he is special. He obviously feels that it is beneath him to explain to you, his employer, anything concerning his performance or lack thereof over the last four years. You see, unlike you and I, he really is special. While you and I must adequately perform our jobs to get raises and keep our jobs, Boustany has over $1.2 million dollars to spend, running ingratiating ads that voters far too often base their decisions on. If he wants a raise, he just votes himself another raise. Just like he did this year, where he gave himself a raise to bring his salary up to $169,300.

In the cowardly fashion of loathsome politicians, Boustany WILL NOT debate Don Cravins, Jr. or myself in a televised environment. He is only willing to "participate" in superficial forums, which typically amount to nothing more than having an opportunity to tell the viewers how great he is and what a great a job he has done. He affords independent moderators no opportunity to question him on his actual record, and he will certainly not have to answer valid challenges to his responses from the other two candidates.

Doctor Boustany doesn't believe you deserve an explanation of his past lack of leadership and representation. He doesn't believe you deserve an explanation of why he willfully participated in ruining our economy. He doesn't believe you deserve an explanation of why he voted to hand over $850 Billion dollars in the largest federal give-away program in our history. He doesn't believe you deserve an explanation of why he supports welfare for the rich. He doesn't want you to find out, that while pretending to be Pro-Life and pro 2nd amendment, he endorsed Rudy Giuliani for President (The Republican pro-abortion, anti-family, anti 2nd amendment rights candidate.)

All of this should remind of when Boustany got fleeced out of $68,500 with an investment and a pathetic attempt to purchase a British title of nobility. He wanted to be called "Lord Boustany." Witnessing the outrageously wealthy getting bilked as a result of their pompous stupidity is usually hilarious. But it isn't so funny when they become your U.S. Representative. The arrogance that made him feel he could just purchase a Lordship is the same arrogance that has him refusing to defend his record. What Boustany wants, he just buys.

How does Boustany pay for this foolishness? He pays for his reelection with over $1.2 million dollars in his campaign coffers, about half of which was donated by individuals and political action committees outside Louisiana. His donors list is strewn with donors from Banking and Real Estate to Attorneys and Big Business. These are not people like you and I. They are not our neighbors. No wonder he voted for the massive 451 page, $700 Billion dollar bailout of big, corrupt banks. Even smaller wonder that he voted to include another $150 Billion dollars in earmarks. All this, of course, was after he promised the voters that he was against the bailout and for the last year rattling against earmarks.

You see, Boustany refuses to debate Cravins and myself on television, because he knows that we will prove to the voters that he is NOT a conservative. We will prove on live television that Boustany is simply another tax and spend liberal, and, Lord Boustany doesn't want you to know the truth. If the majority of voters knew the truth about Boustany, then you would certainly have a new Representative in 2009. Boustany doesn't want to lose his job, and his friends and benefactors certainly don't want to deal with a Representative who will put you first.

Hopefully, the majority of voters will learn the truth by November 4th, but unlikely. Neither Cravins nor myself have the funding to counter the advertising blitz that Boustany's war chest will buy. One thing is certain, however, should either of us become your next Representative on November 4th, it will be the result of honesty and truth, not dollars.

Charles Boustany believes that his service to the 7th District should be take-and-take-and-take, with him taking for himself and his donors, while you and I give our last. His almost 4 years of flagrant abdication of his duties is now crawling out from underneath the rocks and he will do anything possible to cloak your ability to recognize and understand his grotesque behavior. His fear of a debate setting where he has no control over questions asked or the responses of the other candidates only serves to prove his own lack of confidence in his record. He wishes to again purchase his re-election with his over treasures, just like he tried to buy a British Lordship title. Charles Boustany has gotten the ring, and we have gotten the finger. On November 4th, let's take back the ring and give Boustany the finger. Let's take back our District.
